Off to surgery

At 6:15 we wheeled Mia off to surgery. We are so happy, and so nervous. I don't think Mimi is going to be able to go back to sleep, even though she has only gotten 3 hrs. The anxiety.

The surgery will take 5+ hours.

I've been up all night w/my little sick man, Jaxon. God led me to your blog at 1 a.m. and thrilled my heart w/the amazing news!! I set my alarm for 6 so I could get up and start praying. The irony of John's car accident is pretty funny actually. (: So glad you're o.k. John!! Praise the Lord for someone's selfless act!! What a huge decision for a parent to make, and yet the thrill for them to be able to give Mia life!!! You all are in my prayers!! Thank you so much for keeping the 'fans' updated. You guys have been so amazing through all of this. Thank the Lord that HE is the mighty physician, and HE is the one to heal!! Baby Mia will be an amazing testimony!!! Love you!!

Your Baptist Sista,

Stephanie :)

Yeah!!!! I know that this day is so bitter sweet and that over the next months you will have so many emotions (we can talk about those later) but just know that when you have them, it is normal. I am so grateful that someone has chosen to give your little angel another chance at life. We will pray for you this day and for the days to come. We will also pray for your donor family. You have been blessed. Congratulations and enjoy the ride. Mia, today is the first day of your new life!

I'll be praying, I'm new to your page, my son Colin was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (he has no left side of his heart). He's had four open heart surgeries and will require a transplant at some point in his life. Just a little history there. :) Looking forward to the GOOD news that Mia is doing great after surgery. I'm confident! :)

Amazing News!!! I found out this morning about Mia's heart. I went to the Y to meet Melissa Guay and she informed me as i hadn't had time to do my daily blog check. Praise God! Way to go Mia, good job fighting so hard the past 4 months. I will pray for all involved today including the family that has given the heart so selflessly. What a miracle. Stay strong today Mimi and John!

I am beyond excited for you all! I could hardly tell my husband about Mia's heart because I was so emotional. I know how scary it is to wait during the surgery...but it is so worth it! I literally felt "carried" while Beck was getting his new heart. My favorite comment from his surgeon was "the hear started right up...I didn't have to do anything...it just wanted to beat." Mia's new heart wants to beat also!

We will pray continually for her, the rest of you and the sweet donor family!

I really, really hope you are both sleeping. That's what the ICU receptionist told me, but of course if you are awake and you want to call, I'm antsy to chat!

Mimi, my mom called me at about 10 last night saying your dad had just called them to let them know about little Mia. I was so happy...my insides doing flips and cartwheels. I was so excited to check the blog this morning and will probably check a thousand times today for any update. I want to hear your story of where you were, how the call happened, everything....I can't even begin to imagine what that moment was like. I am so excited and have tears just welling up in my eyes of joy for you guys. Take care today and keep us all updated. The prayers are still coming! We love you.

I know what an emotionally tumultuous day this is/will be! My 14 mo old grandson, Alan, had his heart transplant on September 7, two weeks before his first bday. He is/WAS HRHS and had his BT Shunt and Glenn, but due to complications, would never have been a candidate for the third surgery..Fontan. So his transplant was his 3rd open heart surgery in his first year! Anyway, enough history. My two younger kids (11 and 8) have been following Mia's story for months thanks to Crystal Martin (who's son, Noah, had a transplant in Denver where we live and we had a chance to meet her in the spring). What a day of rejoicing and anxiety of joy and sorrow (for the donor family)...but mostly a day of hope and anticipation! We are praying all day...our hearts are with you!

Blessings,

totally know where you're coming from with the no sleep thing. Grace's transplant took 12 hours! and we got to the hospital at 8 p.m. and didn't sleep until the next night. it was a long 48 hrs. but so worth every second.
try and get some rest, let your family help so you can be well rested when your angel comes out. love and prayers coming your way!!

Oh my gosh, twelve hours? I hope that Mia is done before that...but done is good at any hour!
